Create your first Grok Bot
To create your first Grok Bot, use an eligible plan, install the desktop app, and sign in with a Cursor account. Create a bot with a short name, one job, and a description of how it should work. Then give it one task that names the outcome, the sources, the limits, and when it should stop. These steps follow the Grok Bot get-started page.
- 01
Check the plan and install the app
The get-started page says you need an eligible plan: every paid individual Cursor plan, the Cursor Teams plan, or an individual SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, or SuperGrok Heavy subscription linked to Cursor. Install the desktop app for macOS, Windows, or Linux. The same page says you can also set up and use Grok Bot on mobile.
- 02
Sign in
Sign in with your Cursor account. If your access comes from a SuperGrok subscription, link it when the app asks. A dollar price for Grok Bot is not stated on the get-started page.
- 03
Create a bot with one job
Choose a suggested teammate, or create your own with a short name, one primary job, and a description of how it should work. The bots page says to create a separate bot when the goal, the tools, or the approval boundary is different. New, then Create new Bot, is how you add another one later.
- 04
Give it one task
The get-started page says a strong request includes the outcome, the sources, the constraints, the deliverable, and the point where it should stop for you. For a first pass with no connector, it suggests attaching a document and asking for a summary that does not change the file.
- 05
Sign in to tools yourself
When an app needs a sign-in, the get-started page says the bot may ask you to take over the computer. You enter the password, passkey, two-factor code, or CAPTCHA, then hand control back. You can also install a plugin from Connect apps and authenticate it in the browser.
- 06
Review, then save a method
Ask for a revision if the result is incomplete. When the process is stable, the get-started page says you can ask the bot to save it as a skill or create a routine. Before you allow external changes, that page points you to Approvals, security, and privacy.
When you want the wording itself, see how to write Grok Bot instructions. To add a bot someone else shared, see import a shared bot.
